How to Help

From January until sometime in the summer of 2011, we'll be living, working, and volunteering in a different country each month or so, working our way across Asia, Africa and Europe. Want to help?

  • Make a tax-deductible donation: In some countries we'll be working through charitable organizations that accept tax-deductible donations. You can donate to our program costs, which cover our room and board while we're volunteering with an organization for a certain number of weeks, or give money to specific projects carried out by the clinics we visit (i.e. donate $20 to restore a person's sight in Cambodia, send money to help support a mobile clinic in Tanzania, etc.) You can also donate through Danielle's online etsy store (http://www.etsy.com/shop/dannyliz) or buy some of her amazing art, with proceeds going towards the trip.
  • Make a donation that's not tax-deductible: Feeling altruistic? We'll be needing quite a bit of cash, mostly for transportation. We are not part of a recognized charity and have no idea how to legally give you a tax break for helping us out, but you can always follow our adventures on this handy blog to see all the cool things we're doing with your money. And if you're a friend or family member, you can go ahead and count your donation as our Christmas/birthday/Hannukah/Valentine's Day presents for the next 5 years.
  • Send stuff with us: If you have any backpacking or travel equipment that you're not using please contact us and we'll put it to good use. Also, if you have any items you would like us to take to give to people we meet along the way, please let us know. We'll be visiting/volunteering at clinics and orphanages, so clothing, toys, hygienic/first aid items, toothbrushes, hard candy, small books, etc. would all be welcome, depending on how much room is left in our luggage.
  • Give the gift of knowledge: We're still in the planning stages, so if you're a seasoned traveler, or have experience in any of the regions we'll be visiting, please let us know! Any advice on safety, visas, traveling on a budget, gear, places to stay, and things to see would be greatly appreciated.
  • Tell your friends: If you don't particularly feel like giving us anything, but know someone who might, send them a link to this blog. No donations will be turned away :)
